Why is UK paying for people who previously were in Australia, Canada, Brazil, Barbados, Dominican Republic? Are they criminals? Have they been refused entry in those countries with documentation? Have they got asylum in these countries with no benefits?

Deport & dump them back to France, as its a safe country & they shouldn't have left it!
We're not part of #EU so its illegal entry, same way as #EU would deport UK citizens if no passport or means of support or has criminal record/intent!

illegal immigrants. This is UK people being used & abused, in my opinion. All people who paid water bills warrant having the payments for sewerage refunded with interest & damages from 1989. I hope some one on X know a good no win no fee legal company to start this process.
