This is just a reminder that there are others ways for donors to stage a "revolt" besides leveraging the threat of withholding future donations to shape the internal policies or priorities of nonprofits. donorrevolt.com/

Fascinating. I'd underscore that guilt "doesn't necessarily put [those who feel it] into action." It's simplistic & not always productive. Better to recognize the privilege & consistently work toward justice thru money, voice & humble action. theguardian.com/society/2022…

Fascinating yet sadly unsurprising to see the disparities. Great example of ways to take meaningful environmental action at a local level.
Sobrato Philanthropies is proud to support @Aclima and its launch of its hyperlocal network that measures #airpollution and #climatechange emissions on every block of all 101 cities in the #BayArea. @bydarrylfears for @washingtonpost covered the launch: wapo.st/3NBWQP5

Sad how pervasive this kind of “rubbish” thinking is. In the US, we compound the error by assuming a few billionaires can solve it all … oh, and that funding nonprofit operations is wasteful “overhead.”

Lessons here, beyond COVID. “interpersonal trust — a belief that others would do what was right not just for the individual but for the community — saved lives.” When people actively undermine trust in government, science & each other, this happens nytimes.com/2022/05/15/world…

“Studies show that income inequality is closely correlated with low levels of interpersonal trust. And in Australia, the gap between rich and poor, while widening, is less severe than in the United States.”

“‘Care is so undervalued…This was all about the power of care.’” And, perhaps, the power of adaptability.” We think we are so innovative and adaptive here, but are we, in the ways that matter for the collective whole?
“In the United States, reductions in mobility — a key measure of social distancing — were less stark, shorter and more inconsistent, based in part on location, political identity or wealth.”
