This In The Archives includes a small portion of UCSB's larger architectural history. Located in the art and design collection at the AD&A are the original renderings of many of the buildings making up UCSB's campus, including the one displayed below of the AD&A building itself.

For today's In the Archives, we are highlighting Californian born Edla Muir, also known by her married name, Edla Muir Lambie. Muir focused on designing modern private homes and her designs were featured in Sunset magazine, Architectural Digest, and other publications.

We present Elizabeth Kellam and Lockwood De Forest. Both prominent individuals in Santa Barbara’s architectural history, the de Forests aided in the rebuilding of Santa Barbara’s Spanish Colonial Revival as well as founded The Santa Barbara Gardener in 1925. #inthearchives

For this week’s In The Archives, we are highlighting Roland E Coate Sr. Papers within the ADC collections. Coate Sr. was a significant and influential architect of the early to mid 20th century, designing primarily in the Monterey and Colonial Revival style.
