EXCLUSIVE: Aaron Schock traded congressional disgrace for what he said was his shot at a Venezuelan gold mine — and the chance to remake himself in Trump's Washington. On his remarkable return as a jet-setting influence broker directing a transatlantic operation to keep the United States out of war. W/ @ebazaileimil politico.com/news/2026/06/08…

We saw this complexity right away as they started the game. My son, who has been following frustrations after frustrations of @USMNT for many years, turned to me and said “Dad, I can’t believe we are seeing this”.
As a lifelong USMNT fan, I find it so pleasantly disorienting to read stuff like this.

Gustavo Alfaro, the Paraguay coach, puts defeat down to the "complexity" of the US approach. "They dominated tactically, technically and physically... they create a pentagon in midfield... they have a solution to every problem".

This 4th goal was just beautiful. In my head it was a lot of passes… turns out it was a LOT. Just incredible composure and confidence to keep it moving and then finish it with a bang. Pochettino ball 🔥 Reyna exclamation point‼️

NEW: I spoke with the Iranian Ambassador to Mexico Abolfazl Pasandideh: - His message to Trump: “If the U.S. closes its eyes to Israel’s interests, Iran and the U.S. can be very good friends.” - Says Iran's presence in the U.S. for the World Cup should be read as a gesture of goodwill - Visa denials impacting some coaching staff may have a negative impact on the team’s performance - But expects his team to advance out of group stage - Team will begin travel to U.S. two days before the match so the head catch can attend press conference the day before, per FIFA regulations politico.com/news/2026/06/13…

Stevens hits El-Sayed for his comments about an ex-staffer:
This isn't hard: Condemn violence without equivocation. The reported planned violence and intimidation at the University of Michigan is wrong. This is simple and any leader should be able to say so. The fact my opponent cannot bring himself to say that is concerning.

this is probably objectively the greatest USMNT world cup win ever, but A. it was before my time and B. i think the context of this being the opener to our home world cup makes things even more special.
That was fun, unexpected and good. But USMNT emerging 3-2 over Portugal’s Luís Figo, Rui Costa, and Pauleta in 2002 still the superior win.

Gio Reyna’s Modric-esque goal at a World Cup will forever silence the criticism that he gets. That’s it. It’s over. Chapter closed for good.
