The Nigerian government must invest in education.
Without that investment, demagoguery and populism will outlive Peter Obi’s run, because a country that rewards theatrics and lamba over competence risks electing thespians who only know how to play for the audience. We then end up with citizens who think Dangote and Otedola building stadiums is sound economic policy.
Imagine if this incompetent candidate had a solid political acumen? We’d be Argentina now or worse.
As long as a sizeable number of citizens cannot tell a man who knows how to govern from a man who merely enjoys the drama of auditioning for the role, we will keep mistaking the audition for the job.
For now, we are good. Obidients haven’t been able to scale beyond Abuja. And their candidate doesn’t know to stay in one place to solidify a structure. Plus his allies see him as a ladder to their own dream instead of a project they must bring to fruition. For now, we are good.
