Can Rishi Sunak really be a contender for leader given the party membership didn’t vote for him? Surely it needs an outsider to run uncontested so it doesn’t go back to members? Ie Ben Wallace? #triplive

Here's a story for those promoting the cashless society myth. Many, and not just the elderly like Michael, rely on cash, trust it and use it every day. We need a varied payments ecosystem which includes cash. The cashless dream is a nightmare for millions

It's great to see a few communities getting a free ATM, but it is only very small number. What is needed is a broad free ATM network. All that's needed is for banks to pay a sustainable interchange fee. Link can make this happen. telegraph.co.uk/money/consum…
Great insight from @DavidMundellDCT "cash faces 3 issues: the ongoing issue of access, the inverse issue of deposits and the increasingly pressing problem of acceptance...therefore, it is essential that Government comes forward with legislation and plans" oxfordmail.co.uk/news/nation…
Good insight into the demise of our cash ecosystem. The "interesting experiments" mentioned are wholly inadequate. The demise was caused by LINK cutting the fee banks pay for ATM withdrawals. Which? says this saves banks £100m a year. Reverse the cuts now & save access to cash.
A Government spokesperson said "new rules are coming [for cash] in due course". There is no reason to delay. Two rulings will make a huge difference:
1. Revoke the interchange cuts for ATMs.
2. Require retailers to accept cash.
It really is that simple.
