The story goes that when ATC called HM Customs, saying that there was a Chipmunk next to runway 28R, the bewildered reply was ‘Have you tried the RSPCA?’ 😂

From the comfort of the control tower at Heathrow, I witnessed 10 x consecutive missed approaches during Storm Eunice in 2022, all well executed. Both flight crews and ATC are highly trained in this well-established procedure.

It’s going to be a breezy couple of days at various airports in the UK and around Europe. This will probably result in a few go-arounds being flown. Please don’t be concerned about these. It is a normal manoeuvre we perform if a safe landing isn’t assured. You’ll be fine 😄✈️
