What can we learn from the family history of brain cells? @GiselleTYCheung, @pauler_m et al. from @HippenmeyerLab @ISTAustria traced the origin of cells in the superior colliculus and revealed a path to understand how brain disorders may arise.

It was a privilege to lead this #CancerNeuroscience study on how glioma can recruit mechanisms of adaptive plasticity to promote cancer growth. I am eternally grateful to have an incredible mentor @michelle_monje and to have collaborated with such an outstanding group scientists
ALT Using optogenetic depolarization of the glioma cells, we found that the larger the current, the bigger the growth effect. Stronger synapses, bigger currents, promote greater tumor cell proliferation.

Absolutely thrilled to share our work @HippenmeyerLab showing that the ontogeny and cell-type diversity in the superior colliculus originates from multipotent progenitors each capable of producing both excitatory AND inhibitory neurons.

my oven and heat have been broken for 2 days and one of my physics problems asked me to calculate how long I should shake a thermos to boil water.
Itās 2.78 days, now I just need to calculate how long to shake my oven and shake my house.

As a first-gen farm kid, explaining science to my mom is that proteins fold like the old kinky hoses we use. Or unintended single point mutations in promoters of new constructs are like finding a weed seed in a fertilizer. Explaining science like this is fun.
