This is very true. If I sold my townhouse in BC, I could buy 2 detached homes in Edmonton. Why is it so much cheaper to build nice homes everywhere else in Canada? Don't talk property taxes though. Some provinces have 3x the taxes on half the cost of my home.

Okay, so if boomers are expected to downsize from their larger house to a smaller townhouse, why are all the townhouses being built now as 3 storied buildings? Where are the one level rancher townhomes with a little yard?

Wow! No one in my family, nor friends, were ever sick that many times in a year when young. There's something to be said about keeping kids at home resting when sick.
Got this patient info sheet from the after hours clinic where my son went for an ear issue (not Covid, thankfully) Apparently they are calling Covid a "common cold" now & normalizing kids being sick like 16 weeks of the year "without cause for concern" 😳

Despite being right, there's no land available elsewhere to rent, where they can all move their trailers. I'm not blaming FN. But it's still devastating to end up homeless. $20,000 compensation and low income doesn't go very far.
So…the trailer park leased the land for 50 or 90 yrs then rented the spots out to residents. The first nations told these ppl yrs ago that the lease to the trailer park was up in two yrs and wouldn’t be renewed and these ppl didn’t look for other options. I mean that’s ON THEM.

I bought a 720sqft trailer for $24,000 as my first home in my 20's and lived in it for 16 years. Closure of the trailer park was always a worry. Saving grace for me was the park had a TM pipeline running thru it. The loss of our last form of affordable housing is devastating.

RESIDENTS of a Comox Valley trailer park have been EVICTED by the K'omoks First Nation band because the trailer park sits on their land. MANY of these residents have lived there for 40 years. πŸ‘€

The argument of people staying up later and not going to bed on time because they're enjoying evening sun is the first reasonable one I have heard against DST. People don't actually use morning sun; don't sit out in it for an hour or two, so that argument was lame.

Yes, Canada's medical system has flaws but our recent mass shooting survivors will have acute care and hospital based care fully covered, with no personal cost. Can the US say the same?

While the family does need to pay for travel, accommodation and future long-term care, at least they don't have to deal with insurance issues and won't get surprise invoices for treatment in hospital.

This certainly explains why this issue at UOF is so concerning.

Now that school is back in session there is covid at my mom's LTC home. DBH liked to tell us schools aren't a source of transmission. What a joke. I wish care staff would stay home when sick.

The ostriches are not pets. The owners built a lucrative industry raising their flock to kill them for food, cosmetics and pet treats, and have for decades. (See info from 2011). They were irresponsible by not reporting avian flu, and are jeopardizing other poultry farms.

You know, scrolling down X daily to see what's new, and every post is always negative. It does explain why so many people are either angry or depressed, reading this stuff every day. Life is actually so much better and nicer in person.

Took an evening walk, music plugged in but aware of my surroundings. 3 boys and a girl (ages about 14 to 8) ahead of me. They crossed the street and started screaming 'penis' at the top of their lungs repeatedly. Not at me, but clearly seeking attention. Harmless but sad, really.

It took 4 mths to get mom's DTC approved by CRA. Amended her returns and it will take 8 months for CRA to assess them. They also arbitrarily removed her approved POA's. I assume it will take 8 months before they reinstate them. In BC, you can't call them either. Disgraceful! #CRA
