Hey Jasmine… Black pilot here. I think you missed the plot. Then again, that’s becoming a pattern. I graduated from West Point. I went through Army flight school. I learned to fly the AH-64 Apache. I deployed to combat and flew 55 combat missions over Baghdad. Nobody handed me a cockpit because of my skin color. Nobody lowered the standards for me. Nobody looked at me and said, “Let’s check a diversity box.” That’s what people like you don’t seem to understand. Suggesting that Black pilots, Black engineers, Black doctors, or Black leaders need special preferences to succeed is not empowering, it’s insulting. I didn’t want a different standard. I wanted the same standard. And when you’re flying into combat, the American people don’t care what race the pilot is. They care whether the pilot is qualified. Merit isn’t racist. Excellence isn’t discriminatory. And reducing every achievement to skin color says far more about your worldview than it does about mine.

Weaponizing the deaths of Americans on a day of remembrance is arguably the lowest thing I have ever seen any political party do. Before anyone comes at me I would have the same opinion if republicans did this with the troops killed at abbey gate. This abhorrent, repugnant insult to their memory is beyond reproach. It’s clear you see service members as a pawn you can use against your political opposition. I am sickened by this act in ways that words cannot describe.

My kids are never going to believe me when I tell them that back in my day you could just put the video game in the console and fucking play it without needing to wait 45 minutes for an update.

Ironically, the so-called “anti-hate” groups have an incredibly strong financial incentive to stoke hate, so they actually AMPLIFY hate! The worst thing that could happen to them is actually ending hate, as they would cease to exist.

Two things I learned coming to DC as often as I have this past few months. 1. It has some absolutely amazing rooftop bars and restaurants. 2. Googling “rooftops in DC” will get you on some lists you don’t want to be on.

The new trend in government (both Republican and Democrat) is pushing blatantly unconstitutional policies, knowing they’ll get away with it for years until the Supreme Court finally steps in. The only real way to stop it is accountability: if a law or policy is ruled unconstitutional, anyone who voted for it or implemented it should be immediately removed from office and barred from holding office again. They’re all sworn to defend and uphold the Constitution. This shouldn’t even be controversial.

I imagine there’s going to be a @SouthwestAir exodus soon, the front line staff is taking the brunt of the ire from customers over the shitty way the company is being run

Generations is a decent transitional film, but I’ve always thought TNG deserved to stand on its own on the big screen right out of the gate. First Contact is clearly the best of those films, and I think Nemesis gets a bad rap. One of the more lamentable missed opportunities in the TNG universe is @akaWorf’s pitch for a “Captain Worf” show. It would’ve been a much better option than any of the current Trek series and a great chaser after TNG and DS9. After Picard Season 3, I’m all in on a “Silver Fox Worf” series. Arnold is moving ahead with King Conan—let’s make it a trend! If only there were radio stations willing to flip formats from Sports Talk to Clean-Shaven Riker Talk. I’d have a ten share.
