I've worked on the tech and platform side of the online dating space for a *long* time and this is one of the weirdest things I've ever seen In that field.
It might actually work financially for her from an app's business point of view, but it's not about online dating. It's blurring the lines between dating and hiring an escort - fine if you want to do that, but in my opinion a sad sign of a broken dating ecosystem.
And maybe that's a symptom of high-gloss NYC or LA dating, IDK - but I can't see any of my (mostly totally normal) friends paying a date preparation deposit to a chick.
