Tom Coyne (@coynewriter), editor of @GolfersJournal, has played some of the most exclusive golf courses in the world. But when he visited a nine-hole course in New York's Catskills that had seen better days and was up for sale, he took on a new challenge: running the course for a year to see if he could turn it around.
Coyne talks with Lee Cowan about his efforts to preserve a rural community's beloved course, and about his new book, "A Course Called Home: Adventures of an Accidental Golf Course Owner." cbsn.ws/4eWmMpw
@chadmumm@WellsAdams how about showing some love to Braden Shattuck? His backstory is incredible! Only pro from Philly section to make pga field at the Mink.
@notthefakeSVP Braden Shattuck is playing in PGA Professional. He is head of instruction at Rolling Green in Springfield, PA. He is currently in 2nd - if he makes the top 20, he will play at Aronimink where Rolling Green is marshalling the 2nd hole. Cool storyline.
Every golf round tracking app today is bloated. All are ad-driven "Book a Tee Time" pop-ups, find friends, forced SM feed etc. UX is a mess. Massive opportunity for a pure stats tracker with killer icons, zero distractions. Just the data. ⛳️📈
Just finished @brooksrunning book Running with Purpose. I know it's a few years old, but loved the through-line: stay narrow, stay patient, keep showing up.
Hot take: @GolfChannel@BigBreak hit different because golf was still innocent.
No T-100 logo cosplay. No personal launch monitors. No social media thirst. Just sleeves down to the elbows, girls in guys’ shorts, and sweating 3-footers on an 8-on-the-stimp dog track.
