Lovely evening tonight with @IMcMillan and friends in Darfield. One of those lovely gentle community events, that there are not enough of. Thanks for the invite @Gargarin

As I know he is still on here I just wanted to thank @IMcMillan once again for his funny but thought provoking poetry. Came across this book in a charity shop. It is definitely not just for children. Destiny Girls and Visiting Grandad were almost too much for me.

We’ve been in Ripon today. They are posh round here, the pot of sauce sachets came with a little pair of scissors to snip the ends off. And it was super posh as they weren’t tied to the table with a string

Good evening sorry to bother you. @cinspkevinsmith We had a club member pushed off their bike on Sunday by a passenger in a car. Two cyclists down one needed to go to hospital. It has been reported, what is going to be the best way to keep a track on what is happening with this?

Sadly I no longer feel that I wish to continue with this platform @elonmusk . Sorry to those people like @IMcMillan @teacherhead @dylanwiliam and many others whose opinions and comments I value, from now on I will be concentrating on #threads #instagram and #bluesky

Poignant images from Ian Beesley at Salt Mills. An important record of our industrial heritage. And accompanied by poignant words from @IMcMillan Please zoom in and read the story of Dolly.

Now I have more time on my hands I am riding in the middle of the day midweek. The roads are busier than my normal early weekend rides it is nice to see so many drivers who pass appropriately & are courteous. And an exemplary pass from a #ibnscaffolding lorry in a tricky place.

Very patient driving from an articulated lorry driver for @TheRangeUK coming out of Barnsley this am along Sheffield Road. The central islands made it difficult for them to overtake me on my cycle but an exemplary pass when it was appropriate. Thank you

Retirement has given me time to start to update my blog. Who knows I may even pay to remove the adverts. More ramblings from the "Fishing around in the world of education" blog agittner.wordpress.com/

One thing I learn from Whitehouse and Mortimer; Gone Fishing (and tbh impresses me) is just how large some of our freshwater fish actually are. @johntomsett

I finished this last night. It was a sublime piece of writing. Just magical, with dare I say a little Alan Garner Red Shift influence. A tour de force @BenMyers1 (PS I bet you enjoyed writing the chapter with the Oxford don!!)

Well I thoroughly enjoyed this. A wonderful piece of story telling, and what a story. There was no one at the time to close to the cycling record of Beryl Burton and no one since has come close.

Too late for #FoxOfTheDay @ChrisGPackham but this was a nice surprise for us @RSPB_OldMoor. It was in the distance, apparently he has learned from his mother how to swim across to islands for a snack!!

So no change there then….
EXCL: MPs accepted over Β£700,000 of freebies last year, from helicopter rides to Taylor Swift tickets. And despite their criticism of Keir Starmer's receipt of luxury gifts, Tory MPs took more on average than Labour MPs. My @ObserverUK scoop: theguardian.com/global/2024/…

Let this be a warning to all grandparents everywhere!
On my way in to work in a taxi from my home address. What slimy tories see - Greedy train driver demanding a taxi to work. What normal people see - Train driver doing a last minute favour, so as to keep a service running and not inconvenience hundreds of passengers.
