Had a lovely time in McManus Art Gallery @McManusDundee this afternoon. Very taken by this portrait of the Rev. Samuel Martin by his brother, David. The Reverend is turned away from nature & his intellectual labours, and finds the source of divine enlightenment in contemplation.

What he's turned away from is fascinating. It's a natural scene, and perhaps says that even the beauty of nature can be a distraction if it leads away from direct communion with God.

A reminder, perhaps, of the perennial danger in worshipping creation rather than the Creator โ an impulse visible in some of todayโs more apocalyptic environmental narratives.

Honestly, I think everyone is being far more unfair towards Robert Kenyon's posts than they ought to be. Nothing he said was particularly unusual, all exactly the kind of things I'd expect to hear from a plumber. Plumbers make jokes.
This kind of purity politics is just a method of keeping the lanyard class in power and normal people out of power. Better to ignore this cheap angle of attack and just crack on with the job of persuading people that millions must go.

There were massive international protests over George Floyd and those police involved were severely punished with long prison sentences, yet the police responsible here did not even lose their jobs!
An incredibly unjust double-standard!

An 18-year-old kid gets stabbed in the street. Heโs running for his life, begging for help, and instead of saving him, the police handcuff him while he bleeds out because the attacker claimed โracism.โ
They let him choke on his own blood. No urgency. No humanity. Just cold, ideological policing.
Months later? Still no names. Still no suspensions. Still no accountability.
Meanwhile, the same UK police have arrested over 12,000 people for social media posts.
They move at lightning speed to jail citizens for tweets and online comments, yet they canโt even name or discipline the officers who allegedly let a stabbing victim die in handcuffs on the street.
This is the definition of two-tier policing: aggressive against ordinary people speaking online, but protective when it comes to their own failures and protecting the narrative.
The British people deserve real justice, not another cover-up.
