Yesterday, while watching Shooting Stars play, I reflected that for over 30 years, I’ve been a regular at our home games at Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan. I’ve watched hundreds of matches. I followed our CAF Cup victory run in 1992. If I remember correctly, it was the legendary Felix Owolabi’s last season as a player. I was there for almost every home game in 1994, witnessing the deadly partnership of Olumide Harris and Duke Udi. I followed closely again in 1995, our double-winning season, attending nearly all our home games. In 1996, I didn’t miss a single home game during the Champions Cup run. The final itself was played at Liberty Stadium. We won 2–1 on the day, even though we lost on penalties in the return leg. Till today, I still feel the late Amodu Shuaibu rushed the substitution of Ajibade Babalade for Patrick Paschal, and it unsettled our defense at a crucial moment, allowing Zamalek to score an away goal. I’ve seen this club relegated, and I’ve seen it rise again. I followed the team to Ijebu Ode when Adamasingba was under renovation. I’ve watched us play in Abuja. I remember when my former company, Nairabet, sponsored the club for years. I also remember buying a brand-new bus for the team and maintaining it at no cost for three years. This club means a lot to me, and my support remains unwavering. Now, even though I own an Ibadan-based club, Ibadan United, playing in the NLO, my hope is that it becomes a pipeline of talent for Shooting Stars, with those players going on to represent Ibadan proudly on bigger stages around the world. Congratulations to all our fans on the thrilling win yesterday. Up Shooting Stars.

There is no dilemma. Sen Sharafadeen Alli will become the Ekerin Balogun of Ibadanland while the current Abese Balogun of Ibadanland, Oloye Agba Samuel Adegboyega Adeniran will become the Ekarun Balogun of Ibadanland.
Ibadan man expresses concern over the dilemma Oba Senator Sharafadeen Alli finds himself in. Should he forfeit the throne for his governorship ambitions? What are your thoughts?

Sad to hear of the passing of veteran actor, Chief Kola Oyewo. A true icon of Nigerian theatre and cinema, he graced our screens with unforgettable performances in Saworoide as Oba Lapite, The Gods Are Not to Blame, Sango, Koseegbe, and many other classics. He was 80 years old. May his soul rest in peace. Hon Akin Alabi Ajia Olubadan of Ibadanland

Fellow Nigerians, On behalf of the good people of Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency, I congratulate all Nigerians on the occasion of Democracy Day, 2026. As we mark this important day, our thoughts and prayers are with the victims of kidnapping and insecurity across the country. In particular, I call on all relevant security agencies to intensify efforts towards the swift rescue of those recently kidnapped in Ogbomosho and ensure that they are reunited safely with their families. Security is not something we can afford to politicize. It is a collective responsibility that requires the cooperation of government, security agencies, community leaders, and citizens alike. It is in recognition of the urgent need to strengthen our security architecture that the House of Representatives yesterday passed the constitutional amendment bill for the creation of State Police. This step reflects our determination to provide more effective, community-based policing and enhance the capacity of our nation to combat crime and insecurity at all levels. While there is still much work to be done, we must continue to strengthen our democracy, uphold the rule of law, and work together for a safer, more prosperous, and more united Nigeria. Happy Democracy Day to all Nigerians. Hon. Akin Alabi Ajia Olubadan of Ibadanland.

When a journalist deliberately downplays the efforts of security personnel and attributes their work to someone else, he is doing exactly what he would condemn others for doing. If the police deserve criticism when they fail, they also deserve recognition when they succeed. Anything less is intellectual dishonesty.
Kudos to police and igboho on the rescue of the Adelabu sibling and her her children

1. I remember the day very well. Thank you again for doing it. 2. This type of testimony is why I write and teach. Thousands of results. I really should write more. 3. Make the guy come pay tithe. I broke small. 4. Blue had started then. 🙌🏾
This was 7 years ago when I hosted Oloye @akinalabi at my airport kiosk and I gave out 100 copies of his book “How to Sell to Nigerians” to customers and passengers at our MMA2 Ikeja kiosk. A passenger flying through the airport that morning on his way to his Dad’s funeral in Benin, was fortunate to get an autographed book during the meeting and greet. I completely forgot about that encounter and in March of this year, I got a message to my whatsapp from a strange number and he reminded me how we met. Proceeded to tell me how this book really helped him navigate some business decisions he was about to embark on after getting a small inheritance. Today he operates a successful hospitality business and he never believed his fortune would turn around. Sometimes we do things and never know the impact it may have on a strangers. This was Honorable Akin Alabi before the blue Uniform he wears today. I still had my hairline intact. 😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩

As we celebrate this year’s Eid al-Adha, I extend my greetings to all Muslim faithfuls and the entire people of Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency. However, even in this period of celebration, our hearts remain heavy over the painful abduction of innocent pupils and teachers at Community High School Ahoro-Esiele, L.A. Primary School Esiele, and Yawota Baptist Nursery and Primary School in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State. As you celebrate with your families and loved ones, I urge us all to remember these victims and their families in our prayers. Let us pray fervently for their safety, protection, and immediate return. I also call on all security agencies, from the Federal Government down to state and local authorities, to intensify efforts toward rescuing them and ensuring that those responsible are brought to justice. The security and protection of our people must remain a collective priority. This is the time for all of us to join hands together, devoid of political, ethnic, or religious divisions, to confront the growing security challenges facing our communities. Human lives are sacred, and we must unite to safeguard them. In the same vein, I reiterate my support for state policing as a necessary step towards strengthening grassroots security architecture and improving rapid response to threats within our local communities. May this Eid bring peace, healing, renewed hope, and abundant blessings to every home in Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency and beyond. Eid Mubarak. Hon Akin Alabi Ajia Olubadan of Ibadanland
