The message that people in power send when they don’t acknowledge community demands through official channels is that the community must take action outside of official processes.
Final budget votes seal the deal. Allard and Eadie oppose the operating budget.

Coming back on occasion to see friends who are still here starting to feel like visiting high school after graduating. Anyway, good stuff happening at the other place now.

This is a block from where Doris Porter was killed by a driver this summer
A fine. 111kmh over the limit on a residential street and they're just gonna fine him. They're not taking the car, the owner's license, no charges. The @wpgpolice are a joke. (They locked comments so no one could point that out.)

Conditions dictate behavior. Give people resources not punishment and you’ll get what you want, every time.
Back in April all these deliveristas would’ve been parked on the sidewalk and it would’ve been unwalkable. But since Wegman’s put in this e-bike loading zone it’s so much clearer. It’s proof that adequate on-street micromobility infrastructure is a win for pedestrians too

The gentleman who died on hwy 59 was a friend, and a legend in the food security community here in Winnipeg. He helped me a lot when I was running my own food bank, and this city doesn't know the extent of that loss just yet. Every life we lose to dangerous roads is tragic.

I modded RDR2 so that all wagons and horses travel at super sonic speeds. It's now a horror game.

Given all else the same, a vehicle going 50km/h will slow down to 40km/h in the same space it takes a vehicle at 30km/h to come to a full stop. This blows people's minds. Driving 30km/h where kids are present is the difference between stopping and plowing them over at 40km/h.

Was driving 30 km/h around a construction zone (even though no one was working, imagine) and was able to easily stop when a small child chasing their puppy ran out in front of me. Slowing down saves lives. Do you want to start your day killing a kid and their dog? I don't!

One of the more corrosive parts of driving culture is the way we accept bending rules without regard for their purpose. Sure, go 10kph above the limit, even if that is the difference between 80% life and 80% death. Park 10 min early in a no-stop zone, in a bike route at rush hour

I actually don’t want to hear shit today about approaches to federal politics. Spend the next year building power in your community winning local issue campaigns. Demonstrate change can happen through collective action instead of blaming outsiders and newcomers.

Ah well, I guess this time around we’re trying Naziism in the US and social democrats in Germany. Hold on, just getting an alert…
