As #WorldHoneyBeeDay is celebrated, let’s remember that we need to protect the diversity of our pollinators. #Biodiversity is critical to our maintaining healthy ecosystems. So let’s also celebrate & protect wild pollinators — too often forgotten or ignored in public policy.
1/ 4 We know that our pollinators are under threat. Today, @cbuniversity’s Dr @AlanaPindar blew our minds. Below are ~120 different species of wild bees that she has collected near Baddeck (NS) just this summer. 70% of these species nest in the ground vs in hives.

Worried what’s up with wild bees? Emily Agar will be talking about patterns of #bee diversity in Pennsylvania over the last 120 years & which environmental factors might be driving these patterns in Marysville B(ee) at 1430 today. @CSEE_Meetings @AlanaPindar #EcoEvoEnto2019

It's finally published! Assessment of risk to hoary squash bees (Peponapis pruinosa) and other ground-nesting bees from systemic insecticides in agricultural soil. So great to have worked with a fine team to do this painstaking work. nature.com/articles/s41598-0…

Wild bumblebees are equally as diverse in both natural and farm areas, but more numerous in natural areas. Very cool talk by @kaylasbees! @NigelERaine @DrLizFranklin1 @AlanaPindar #EntSoc18 #JAM18
