Out with Bob Sheppard today checking our local Little Owl boxes. 20 boxes occupied and most with 5 or 6 eggs !
Normal clutch size is 4, but today averaged 4.8, so looks like being a bumper year. (Needs to be, as Little Owls are declining nationally)
A good year for Siskins with nearly 300 ringed at Bourne, Lincs. They've all headed north now and one ringed last week was photographed by @GarrityPete nr Sheffield on 31st Mar.

Just received finding details for a Kestrel chick that I ringed in June 2009. At 16 years and 6 months, this sets a new British longevity record for Kestrel.
Pleased to get pics of two Kingfishers difficult to photograph today in the Gambia. Blue-breasted Kingfisher on a rusty sign and a Woodland Kingfisher in our hotel garden.

Highlights being eight Egyptian Plovers and great views of Red-throated Bee-eaters.
Out with @Yusuphajammeh18 today and added another kingfisher, African Pygmy Kingfisher. Other pics are Long-tailed Nightjar, Grey-backed Camaroptera and a Citrus Swallowtail butterfly.
Quick hour's outing to Koto Bridge (3 km from hotel) resulted with Malachite, Blue-breasted, Pied and Giant Kingfishers (the latter nearly Jackdaw size)
Quick visit to the Gambia to get away from our British weather. A few birds prior to breakfast. Blackcap Babbler, Red-billed Hornbill, Speckled Pigeon and White-crowned Robin-Chat.
