Amazing lady.
Who better to celebrate on #InternationalOlderPersonsDay than blind veteran Nancy, who just turned 104! In classic Nancy fashion, she quipped: โ€œOh dear, this time yesterday I was only 103!โ€ RT to celebrate Nancyโ€™s birthday and the extraordinary generation she belongs to.

Join us in taking two minutes to remember the fallen. D-Day hero George was due to march past the Cenotaph this #Remembrance Sunday, but sadly passed away on 19 October. His granddaughters upheld his wishes to be present at this yearโ€™s parade, and marched in honour of him.

How do the Marines manage to absolutely nail recruitment ads, while the Army has long been ratherโ€ฆโ€mehโ€? Oof
Today marks the 360th anniversary of the #RoyalMarines. Established in 1664, the Royal Marines have remained steadfast over their 360-year history thanks to the Commando mindset and commitment to their values and standards. Per Mare, Per Terram. @Commando_Ops #RM360

Happy birthday Royals! 360 years of the Royal Marines! That's not just an anniversary; that's practically a biblical lifespan for a military unit. Let's dive into the comedy gold mine that is their history, shall we? Picture this: In 1664, when the Royal Marines were born (as the Duke of York and Albany's Maritime Regiment of Foot), they probably started by thinking, "Hmm, boats and land, let's mix it up and make it super complicated." Fast forward to now, and they're still at it, probably thinking, "Why go one way when you can go both?" It's like they took the term "messing around" and turned it into an art form of amphibious warfare. Now, let's talk about their training. They say it's tough, but honestly, it's probably just their way of making sure everyone can handle the real challenge: the mystery meat in the galley or range stew, or navigating through British weather, which might be more unpredictable than any battlefield. The Falklands War? Imagine a bunch of Marines looking at a map and saying, "Oh, it's cold, it's wet, and it's far away. Perfect for us!" Then, they went ahead and turned a bunch of hills into their version of "letโ€™s go for a brisk walk." And the SBS? Those guys are so secretive, they probably have secret parties where the only rule is "no one talks about the secret party." It's like they're ninjas, but with better boats and a fondness for really challenging swim tests. Disaster relief? More like, "Oops, there's a disaster, let's make it an adventure!" They show up, look at the chaos, and say, "Well, this isn't in our training manual, but we'll wing it." And they do, because why not? They've been winging it for 360 years. Here's to the Royal Marines, where every day is an adventure, every mission is a potential comedy sketch, and every Marine is probably wondering when lunch is. They're not just a military force; They're the finest example of cheerfulness in the face of adversity. Cheers to 360 years of making the impossible look like a walk in the park... or a swim in the ocean, or whatever they decide to do next! TTK.
