As a comic writer who hires artists for my projects, I've had the privilege of looking over comic artist portfolios in person and online.
I thought it might be helpful to share some of what I look for as I go through portfolios in order to help those of you who are newer.

...it seems like a trillionaire hoarding that much wealth would/will be horrible for the economy as it restricts everyone else's ability to maintain a living and pushes more into poverty...

It's really easy some days to get angry over things you cannot control.
Sometimes it's feeling like there's no space for you or feeling like you have no agency.
I won't pretend to have an answer for you, but I'm going to create my own space and embrace my unique path.

Last weekend, I organized most of my comic collection from 2011 to present. It gave me such a warm feeling of nostalgia, I nearly cried a couple of times.
If you can, go flip through your collection. Find your earliest books. You'll be glad you did.

Here's something to think about. Usually when a new tool comes along, younger artists champion it, while older artists bemoan things changing.
This time, it's the opposite – the old guard is into AI while the young largely abhor it.
Worth thinking why that might be the case.

I respect the hell out of Todd, but this is absolute bullshit.
It's not a tool to make our jobs easier or better. It's a product designed and sold to replace human artists and take away our agency.
It's an existential threat to our ability to make a living doing what we love.
