Finally started Off Campus.
I spent the first half of the episode trying to figure out where I knew an actor from. (it was freaking Joshua from Smile 2)

Were they sleeping through the restaurant scene? That is when he fully figures out it was real.
Also during the customer service call, he wanted to alter the wish. Not flat out cancel it.
I am seeing so many people stylishly defending Bear in #Obsession in the replies saying, "How was he supposed to know the wish was real? How did he know magic was real?!"
Are we forgetting the customer support call? He literally heard the real Nikki screaming in agony from a dark purgatory over the phone. He had 100% confirmation that her soul was being actively tortured, and instead of helping her, he asked if being with him was really that bad.
He knew it was real and he chose to keep her trapped

As the OP pointed out, he heard the "woman he loved" screaming in agony and ignored it.
Nikki begged him to kill her (a totally different but probably more fun movie would be if she figured out killing him would also work) and he just pitied himself.

My most annoying take is that it doesn't actually matter if she reciprocated his feelings.
I think it was the smarter choice to keep it vague.
