Not sure this is a good trend. A PhD is a gym to learn how to research (in my advisor’s words), so a system that drives applicants to prove they already know how to do it is defeating the purpose and inevitably cutting out those with less access to guidance on how to prepare.

This week we had the visit @LIIGH_UNAM of the great Jennifer Posey @poseypod for our institutional seminar series! We enjoyed listening to her talk on "Accelerating Molecular Diagnoses for Rare Disease Families" and discussing our projects on genomics of #RareDiseases in Mexico.

Most cells in your body do not have DNA / genomes. ~ 90 % do not have DNA. ~ 10 % have DNA

As part of the #DNAday celebrations, yesterday I had the opportunity to be part of the #WorkExperienceDay by the @SEgenomics, where we learn how to organize karyotypes, identify Sanger SNVs & report the results! Thanks to @NHSEngland professionals for the amazing experience!

Undoubtedly, this does not reflect the entire struggle, however, I believe it allows us to reflect on the current issues, our privileges, and the alarming need to seek justice. Sometimes I feel we live in the last century, but I am also aware of what we have achieved so far.

Keep going girls! We are making history and we will never stop until no other woman in Mexico suffers violence and inequity solely because of her gender 💜🇲🇽

In Mexico, unlike other countries, Women's Day is not commemorated, since it is impossible to celebrate the nearly 40 rapes and 10 femicides per day. Today I went out to protest and would like to share some reflections that shows what we experience in our country.
