1/ It's late, but here's the now annual 🧵 summarising some of the results from the 2020 round of #DClinPsych application reviews for marginalised applicants. I 'publicised' essentially only on Twitter this year & reviewed 22 applications. #ClinicalPsychology
Thread: Ireviewed another 20 #DClinPsy applications by marginalised candidates this year and have done some really basic data crunching. All the applicants very kindly agreed for me to include their demographic info & a few offered specific quotes I could share.

The burnout crisis in healthcare cannot be fixed with mindfulness, resilience & yoga.
We need systems and culture change.
We need interventions that address:
- workload
-staffing
-education
-facilities
-diversity and inclusion
- leadership
-support
Wellbeing is not an add on.

📢Adulterated drugs ⚠️
Potent drugs are being found across the UK that pose much higher overdose risk
As new drugs & synthetics appear its crucial to pass these messages on, speak to people who use drugs abt not using alone, carry naloxone, connect to services for OST, you can also suggest people download the Buddy Up app which can connect them to someone while using.

All survivors who have been in or around the system for awhile carry beloved dead with us. In most cases, there have been years of iatrogenic harm which too often repeat earlier pain and extinguish hope. We have had to watch our friends call out in pain and be judged or ignored.
Overwhelmed with the response so far 🤩 but still recruiting for my current study looking to help understand PrEP usage amongst gay and bisexual men!
I would especially love to hear from those who do NOT currently take PrEP!

Have you previously been a patient on an #inpatient#psychiatricward in the UK and experienced, or witnessed restrictive practice? We’re conducting interviews to understand the impact this has on psychological safety from the perspective of ex-service users. See details below!
ALT Have you previously been a patient on an inpatient psychiatric ward in the UK? Have you had direct experience of restrictive practice, or witnessed it while you were on the ward? Then we’d be interested to hear about your experience.
For the current study, restrictive practice is:
• Being prevented from entering certain areas of living space and segregation
• Locked doors on the wards
• Seclusion (being moved to a separate room away from others for a period of time)
• Manual and mechanical restraint
• Rapid tranquilisation
• Coercion and compulsion related to treatment
• Constant observation
We would like to understand the impact of restrictive practice on service users’ psychological safety, as well as hearing what service users think could be done to make the experience safer.
Participants are asked to complete a 60-minute online interview and will receive a £30 voucher.

Text on poster reads “This Barbie is not claimed by her ancestors.” “Suella Braverman told reporters it is her “obsession” and “dream” to deport the most vulnerable migrants and asylum seekers to their death. Fuck her. #ThisBarbieIsAC*nt”

New stats have provided more info on the number of social homes delivered across Scotland. They confirm targets were missed in Dundee, Edinburgh and Glasgow. This is a housing emergency; we can't wait any longer. @scotgov needs to step up and give us the social homes we need.
The St Mungos strike situation is a compelling example of how orgs in the field of inequality can end up perpetuating the exact thing they were set up to combat.
We have a situation where a homelessness charity...
