Here’s some good news/hope for #ActuallyAutistic folks in workplaces My job’s equity office sends out personal reflections written by employees to share about identities they hold. For Autism “Awareness” month, a reflection was shared that was not written by an autistic person

It was awful. However, I gave the office feedback and they were very receptive, open to learning and thankful. They are know seeking to correct their mistake and the misinformation that was sent. In total, three emails focused on autistic voice will be sent company wide.

So, if you’re frustrated trying to get people to center autistic voices and perspectives, know that there are some people who will not only listen, but actually put in the work to do better.

People can be erroneously told they are just a Highly Sensitive Person and anyone who identifies with HSP should consider if they are autistic. But make no mistake, Autism involves more than what HSP traits involve.

Knowing this, it really irks me when other autistic people insist that other people, especially entire groups of people are #ActuallyAutistic. We don’t know what’s going on with people. A lot of y’all are just now figuring out what’s going on with yourself.

Humanity is too diverse to neatly fit everyone in neat boxes and categories of neurodivergence.

I may get a lot of pushback from this but I think it’s important to consider. I was dx over 5yrs ago. I was heavily involved in autistic spaces for a few yrs, then took a break. Coming back, I notice a decline in effort in self dx from a small but loud minority #ActuallyAutistic

I can hardly relate to autistic TikTok anymore because EVERYTHING is a possible autism trait. 😭 #ActuallyAutistic

You didn’t even know you were autistic a year ago. You couldn’t even recognize it in yourself. How are you now an expert in identifying autism, autistic traits, etc. in others? #ActuallyAutistic

Y'all gotta stop with these simplistic takes. This borders on misinformation. Stimulants have a “calming” effect on ALL people who have ADHD and will have the opposite effect on those who don't. It is also possible that if it's making you robotic your dosage is too high.

If when you are excited you appear calm externally, that would be a flat affect. It has nothing to do with being hyper or energized. You will be hyper and still have a flat or blunted affect if you truly are autistic and have that autistic trait.

Not everything is autism and it doesn't need to be! It's not the only neurodivergence.
