I usually stay quiet but this needs to be said for UI designers.
Before starting this project, I spent time perfecting the style. The first 5 to 10 percent was just about locking in the look, adjusting details, and getting full approval. That’s normal. That’s part of the process.
But around the 60 to 70 percent mark, the client suddenly changed their mind about almost everything. They started switching fonts, the overall direction, and even the entire vibe, from a broken paper-like aesthetic to something fully modern and different. Sure, it could’ve fit in another concept, but not in the one we had already built and agreed on.
What really got me was the arrogance that followed. Acting like I should somehow know exactly what they now want, after just saying the style we agreed on isn’t what they want anymore. How exactly do you expect a designer not to be frustrated by that?
I confronted him respectfully, told him I was completely fine to adjust things, and waited for his reply, only to get ghosted. In my book, that’s a scam. It doesn’t matter if you paid 50 percent upfront; a project isn’t complete until both sides finish what they agreed on.
Ghosting someone after they’ve dedicated time, effort, and creativity to your project is not professionalism. It’s disrespect.
UI design takes patience, clarity, and communication. Respect your designer’s time.
