been using Claude this week instead of codex to polish some UI stuff and I realise now why y’all rely on skills and CLAUDE.md so much. it is so dumb and makes the same dumb mistakes over and over again in every new thread

codex makes legible decision trees all of a sudden

You have $0 for marketing. Your product just launched. How will you get users?

you know when you tell a joke and it falls flat, then someone else says the exact same thing but louder and it’s hilarious that’s like the perfect metaphor for product vs distribution

You should make up more numbers, it gives us a satisfying feeling of being informed and it takes no effort on your side.

This is my loop. Look at him. Make 5.5 pro spec a project. Make 5.5 xhigh turn the spec into epics issues split by UI and Logic and added to a project board. Create an orchestrator thread in codex and tell it to manage threads within codex. Give it the epic and make it /goal until everything is finished. Do the same on the Claude side for the UI tickets. I burn my 5h in 30-40 minutes

codex /goal will wait until your rate limits reset when it's mid-task. chef's kiss.

i’m building a hardcore leetcode. just you and a code editor. no autocomplete. no syntax highlighting. no console output. if your code errors, your entire workspace is deleted and you start again. Suffer.

since announcing i’m going indie/fractional, 5 principal level designers from FAANG* have told me they’re planning to do the same thing. either i’m friends with only entrepreneurial designers (possible), but I think it’s more likely that this is a real emergent role. these designers have big ideas and have the ability to make a much bigger impact than current tech co structures allow. none of them are motivated by creating shareholder value. they’re motivated like typical designers: they want to solve interesting problems and build cool shit. it used to be that they needed the tech co structure in order to do that but obviously that’s no longer the case. job insecurity in tech is having an opposite at the top than the bottom. it’s making senior IC’s want to YOLO into their own projects while more junior IC’s are scrambling to adapt and prove their value. we’ve seen this in engineering - and we already have a name for it - MTS Member of Technical Staff. there’s no role yet for designers who feel the same way, so they want to go indie and work on things that fulfil them.
