On this Ash Wednesday, Days Of Ash is released as a self-contained collection of five new songs and a selected poem - American Obituary, The Tears Of Things, Song Of The Future, Wildpeace, One Life At A Time and Yours Eternally (ft. Ed Sheeran & Taras Topolia). This new EP is a response to current events, inspired by the many extraordinary and courageous people fighting on the frontlines of freedom. Four of the five tracks are about individuals – a mother, a father, a teenage girl whose lives were brutally cut short - and a soldier who’d rather be singing but is ready to die for the freedom of his country. Days of Ash EP available now. Listen here: u2.komi.io/

🧵 Amid the Iranian authorities’ unprecedented crackdown on ongoing nationwide protests, marked by mass killings and sweeping arrests, concerns are mounting that authorities will once again resort to swift trials and arbitrary executions to crush and deter dissent. 1/5

We condemn in the strongest possible terms the shooting and killing of a woman in Minneapolis by a federal agent during immigration enforcement operations today. The Trump administration has taken the life of yet another person through the unnecessary use of lethal force - driven by its cruel, anti-immigrant agenda - and again blatantly lied about the circumstances. The growing presence of ICE, along with militarized crackdowns on protests we have witnessed in recent months, have violated the right to freedom of expression and made our communities unsafe, harming all of us. This killing, as well as all ICE-related custodial deaths, must be thoroughly investigated and those responsible for abuses held accountable. More broadly, the attack on our communities by the Trump administration must stop now.

PAKISTAN: The repeated use of high-pressure water cannons by authorities against peaceful protesters outside Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi is a flagrant violation of their right to peaceful assembly. Pakistan authorities must respect people’s right to peacefully protest and end the disproportionate and punitive use of force. dawn.com/news/1961466/water-…

More than 1,300 people have been executed in Iran in 2025 - the highest figure recorded in decades. Thousands more are at risk as Iranian authorities continue to weaponize the death penalty. We call on the international community to take urgent action to stop this horror.

Bangladesh: @amnesty welcomes the decision by the Bangladeshi authorities to bring 15 serving army officers before a court to face charges including enforced disappearances and torture, allegedly committed during the tenure of the previous government. This marks the first instance in which military personnel have been formally charged in connection with enforced disappearances in Bangladesh, representing a significant step towards accountability and justice for victims. Amnesty International underscores the importance of full compliance with international human rights standards throughout the judicial process. This includes ensuring due process and fair trial guarantees, the use of civilian courts for the proceedings, and refraining from the application of the death penalty in accordance with international human rights obligations. #Bangladesh

More than 1,000 people have been executed in Iran so far this year - the highest since 1989. UN member states must urgently speak up and demand that the Iranian authorities immediately halt all executions.

Months after what was supposed to be a nationwide crackdown on scamming compounds in Cambodia, victims of human trafficking continue to be enslaved, tortured and killed inside them. The Cambodian govt's insufficient response is leaving people exposed to serious harm. 2/3
