Tonight, the U.S. kicks off its 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign on home soil with Paraguay vs the USA. But the game goes beyond what happens on the pitch.
When it comes to human rights, the governments of every nation still have work to do to. As the 2026 World Cup gets underway, we're calling on the governments of host and participating countries to show that respect for human rights is part of the game, too.
Because when the ball starts rolling, humanity must win.

As the men's World Cup kicks off, thousands of fans from around the world risk being shut out of one of the biggest sporting events on the planet.
Instead of cheering from the stands, many are facing travel bans, visa denials, and threats of aggressive immigration enforcement from the US.
With several participating countries subject to a US travel ban, and ongoing racial profiling and arbitrary arrests by ICE and other federal agencies, the country’s Draconian immigration policies threaten to spill over into an event that is meant to bring people together - not tear us apart.
The World Cup belongs to us all. There is no World Cup without the world.

Third-country deportations are a cruel tactic in the Trump Administration’s anti-immigrant agenda, uprooting people and sending them to countries where they have no ties, support systems, or protections. If reports are true that individuals with no connection to the Central African Republic will soon be deported there, it is unconscionable.
