Geopolitics & the state of the world
(long post)
Always loved the subject and have read a lot about it
Situation in the world:
- We are now in a multi-polar world, exactly as Huntington predicted in his legendary book ¨clash of civilizations¨ written in 1996. His remarks on Ukraine already back then were remarkably astute. World is clashing along the fault lines of the great powers & superpowers
- China is now the most powerful country economically, no doubt about it. Largest manufacturing and industrial base, largest electricity generation, dominance or on the road to dominance in all future technologies: robotics, humanoid robots, ai. Biggest trading partner of most countries. Does not have the reserve currency yet, but quietly building its gold stocks, and remember that the British pound still staid the world reserve currency for 30 years after the US became the largest economy, so it could still take a while.
Entire country being educated in these future ai and robot technologies as well. Chinese companies are insanely competitive and reduce cost at impressive speeds, not strange when so much electric power is available so cheap. Of course serious issues as well with too few babies being born, but i guess humanoid robots will fill the gap soon. People saying that China is like the Soviet Union are delusional. The US has never faced such a powerful peer competitor, and the Chinese economy is way more powerful and dynamic than the Soviet one. Most people in the west totally underestimate China since they have never been. Only one advise i can give, go visit, you will be amazed how far ahead they are in many fields.
- Militarily the USAis still number 1, but no doubt that the battlefied is changing fast thanks to drones and ai, and the idea that the US could defend Taiwan is absurd, especially with the amount of drones china produces. The humiliation now against Iran is a pivotal turning point. We are in a multi-polar world, even militarily
- Not bringing Russia closer to the West after the fall of the Berlin Wall was a crucial mistake. The delusion especially Europeans live under that ukraine can defeat Russia is unbelievable. As the famous Russian analyst Karaganov says so often, it seems that Europe has forgotten Russia is the world nr 1 nuclear power. Russia will not be defeated. Never. Better make peace soon. Absurd the delusions elites in Europe live under to keep warmongering against Russia while they are so weak themselves
- Regarding the EU: a retirement home in the making. No ai, no tech, no energy, no children, no future, mass immigration. Nothing but rules and rules and rules. Becoming the laughing stock of the world. Berlin wall of finance also being build with exit-taxes, crazy wealth taxes, and other nonsense. Culture is nice, food is nice, buildings are nice, but that is it. Some exceptions like Poland, but overall a sad story. EU is already utterly irrelevant in global affairs. China and USA decide it all, maybe joined in time by India, which is quietly building its power as well with its young and ambitious population
- USA: in decline but still a superpower. American entrepreneurs, especially with Musk, will continue to create enormous wealth, the birth-rate is not that bad, and the huge resource-base of the US homeland is a massive source of energy. Do not underestimate the resilience and dynamics of the US economy
- Rest of the world: wants to advance, wants to generate more power, wants to become wealthy. And rightly so, why should only the West be rich? They prefer a stable trading-partner, and China provides that mostly right now. World will be divided into influence-spheres, but most countries just want to live calm lives and build their economies
- Declining birthrates: shocking of course, but humanoid robots will fill the gaps in the work-force, for sure. Sad to see a civilization not even reach its replacement rate, but not surprising of course when people are only distracted by mostly nonsense and toxic activiteis
- Podcasts i like are judging freedom, and glenn diesen greater eurasia podcast. Listening to John Mearsheimer and Jeffrey Sachs always a pleasure.
- Inner development: no global awakening will ever happen. This delusion that somehow a higher level of consciousness will be reached globally is bullsh*t. This is an individual journey and the vast masses will always be asleep. We also do not need to go to the Moon, Mars, or other planets, to find out what the source of consciousness is, since consciousness is the basis of reality. Why does nobody know or sees this? Because nobody looked in the one place one can find this, right inside yourself, look inside, as every sage has said for millennia
Some good books on global economics and geopolitics 👇
