After a break of 6 months, the East Midlands CSF SFI Arable Hub returns to the farm on 03/09 for one final time with @andyarable leading the discussion. It doesn’t all look like this, so come along to find out what works and what doesn’t (for us). Please DM for booking details
John was inspirational, his enthusiasm for agriculture and for finding better ways of growing crops never left him. A sad loss for everyone who knew him.
Such sad news. John Clark (pictured in wheelchair) died on Tuesday. He was an absolute icon, stalwart and pillar of Notts farming for his entire career and will be known to many. This photo was taken on Monday, when until the very last he was helping lobby @_RobbieMoore

26 are "family farms" ie they provide a living for a family.
3 are tenants, the rest are owned by the family.
On my rough calcs every single one of them would have an IH tax bill to pay under the new rules
Helpful update from Janet Hughes on the current issues with farmers in existing Mid Tier Stewardhip Schemes transfering into SFI at the Lincolnshire Farming Conference. Its not ideal at present but being given priority to make much better. Very welcome news #SFI#FAS
Hi. Yes. You can apply now. And then in the summer we’ll allow people to add another agreement with the new content.
Or they can wait until their annual extension point.
But we’ve made sure choices are available.

Tricky harvest so far, with quite a lot of drying required, so dug out the % equilibrium moisture content and % air relative humidity charts from an old ADAS booklet .
Lots of adult #csfb present in the harvested 2023 crop, so collecting a sample from the sides of a trailer to go off to be tested for pyrethroid resistance. Tricky insects to get into a bag. Concerned about prospects for the 2024 osr crops already.
Maize head high by 4th July!! First time I have seen a crop this advanced on this date, but back to earth on 5th July with a much later sown field. #maize
