This is bigger than AI
Replying to @_chenglou
1. Occlusion (virtualization) of hundreds of thousands of text boxes, each with differing height, without DOM measurement, therefore simplifying the visibility check to a single linear cache-less traversal of heights, scrolling & resizing at 120fps chenglou.me/pretext/masonry/

Compelling. Not exactly true but clearly a high impact take. No, you can’t just leave AI to build something and come back to a working product. Not unless you’re building a VERY VERY simple site or app. Even then the “working” part will be just something is working and a whole lot of things that an app needs are not even there. By the time you add them, results become less and less reliable. On the other hand - it’s possible to test ideas and visualise features faster. It’s easier to learn. Easier to do tedious repetitive stuff that doesn’t have to be precise. A lot of professions will be affected. Some will change greatly. But we’re not looking at the death of white collar. We’re looking at white collar getting superpowers. Many will overreact just because it LOOKS like we won’t need human in the loop. At some point we will learn how to position humans in the new paradigm and move on.

China breakout is understandable considering population numbers. US is chugging along. EU is just sad.

By now @elonmusk would blunder the greatest business opportunity of all time if didn’t start a swimware sub brand “Grok”. @grok what do you think? Run business projections, assess TAM, marketing upside and momentum opportunity.

The real religion is acceptance of function of mystery. It’s a way of seeing that the most effective way to orient human nature is through collective consent to an inexplicable intuition.

AI is just like a tractor or conveyor belt - it will disrupt some jobs and will create other opportunities. It’s silly to try to stop it by regulation. Look at EU - the regulated themselves out of any relevance.
Yes, Elon. I do lack "any sense of adventure" when that "adventure" will, as you have made clear, force tens of millions of workers out of their jobs. The goal of AI and robotics must be to improve life for all people, not just to make you and your fellow oligarchs even richer.

Act of terror yesterday in Australia. Targeted at Jewish community, at the time of peaceful celebration. Also act of heroism from fellow Australian, risking his life to protect innocent lives. Evil massacre, inadequate protection, sad and alarming targeting of innocent people. Also a moment of hope and inspiration. Men must be dangerous, capable of showing strength, but not evil and not aggressive. Men must have instinct to protect without questioning. There are no Jews, Muslims or Christians in this. There is no justification or explanation. If you are Christian, you must see Christ in everyone. You must protect life - the God given blessing to all. It’s not the time to condemn any group or religion. It’s the time to find strength and be ready to protect the innocent. Protect peace and life. If you are Christian, you live by the words - “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” One of the most important values taught to us is - ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ It is difficult for some to reconcile this with rage that comes when evil acts like this happen, but it really is simple - do all you can to protect. Strength is justified when it protects the innocent, restrained when it risks becoming vengeance, and condemned when it serves power, pride, or ideology. Australia must wake up and learn to be strong - support families and communities, enable vigilance, empower law enforcement and reject any justification of violence. There is never a good reason to pull the trigger other than protecting someone in immediate danger or fighting back the aggressor.

Wiring UNA CMS API with NextJS 16 cached components, PPR/ISR is tricky, but when it's done, it's pure magic...

Server Components have and interesting side effect - they make you think more about you app structure - what’s needed and when. “Use client” is just too forgiving at the cost of ever-expanding bundle.

Major framework devs (looking at you, @vercel ) need to start creating LLM-focused docs for changes in new updates. It is nigh impossible to use LLM for recently updated frameworks. Next 16 is cool, but LLMs have no idea how to implement "use cache", keep recreating middleware.js and memoize everything even if compiler is on.

Cloudflare outage, shortly after AWS outage is a showing how dangerous centralised computing can be. One wrong config file can cascade to the point where people can’t order food, respond to messages, lookup details, etc. Internet was designed to be distributed and resilient. Networks should be independent, diverse and self sufficient. Open-source software is the key.

AI Bots is a significant issue. Many are now impossible to identify as Bots and yet they crawl/scrape data like there's no tomorrow. Completely distorting analytics reports. Bot traffic from SG and CN is especially rampant.

❖ Performance and Flow Top priority is how the app feels. It's a mix of speed, interactions, UX conventions and styling. App should never stutter and user should never wonder how to do things.
