The first twitchable Red-backed Shrike for the Sheffield area was at Middleton Moor last night, a spanking male.
Only the 6th SBSG area record, the last one was in 1993.
First winter Grey Phal at RVCP today. Mainly distant, but came close in to the main lake shore briefly, later flipping over to Meadowgate.
Thanks to the finder KRG who is on a bit of a hot streak currently.
This looks pretty good to me for a male Vagrant Emperor, currently in the ditch before the hide at Skeffling re-alinnment, E.Yorks at the end if Long Lane (closwd to traffic).
Comet A3 Tsuchinshan-Atlas from Damflask Reservoir in the South Yorkshire Peak District tonight. More impressive was the Moonbow that appeared over the Reservoir to the west.
Fire-tailed Myzornis, Sela Pass, Arunachal Pradesh, May 2024. Another long-awaited Himalayan mega, missed on my previous visit, this jewel-of-bird certainly lived up to all expectations #BirdsSeenIn2024
RIP Tony Morris who sadly passed away this afternoon - a great pal and gentle soul who I spent great times with in Shetland @shefbirdstudy@BirdingBlades
Managed to catch the record breaking flock of 46 Little Gulls at Orgreave this afternoon. The whole flock spiralled up high calling around 14:45, before leaving to the E at 15:05.

Ok, exciting update, RSPB tagged bird, female named LAGERTHA, tagged in the Peak District this summer, she was recently on the Humber estuary. We don't put out current positions for obvious reasons with this species but great that you photographed her! Thank you!
White-eyed Gull, one of an impressive 58 counted before they left their roost on the swim-lane buoys in front of the Eilat North Beach hotel metropolis; they weren’t so easy back in 1989! Last of three new birds on this great little Israel revisit and my penultimate gull.
