The president says that Murdoch promised to “take care of it,” but Murdoch has a history of not interfering in the WSJ’s editorial decisions.* Famously, when Elizabeth Holmes asked him to shut down the WSJ’s reporting on Theranos, Murdoch, despite having invested $100 million in Theranos, refused. *Murdoch doesn’t interfere in the WSJ’s editorial decisions but does take a strong hand with the opinion pages of his news publications and, more broadly, with papers like the New York Post.
