We just released v0.16.5 of the Ruby LSP with the first iteration of method support for go to definition! We will continue iterating to handle more method types and improve accuracy as much as possible. Please let us know if you have feedback and happy coding!

I'm giving a talk: Using Rails introspection to supercharge your editor

The Rails LSP that @ShopifyDevs has been working on is so cool. Hovering over models in your code shows you the attributes and types in your editor. This works by injecting a Rack app in development that adds /ruby_lsp_rails/ routes. You can view them and see how it communicates from Rails to your editor. Since this comes directly from your Rails app, you also get always up-to-date information since Rails reloads your code automatically in development. Excited to see all the other goodies coming that will make this even better. #rails #rubyonrails #ruby

The Ruby LSP now supports the extract to variable refactor. On VS Code, select a piece of code, right click, select refactor and then extract to variable. This still has some rough edges, but it works well for most common cases. github.com/Shopify/ruby-lsp/…
