Everyone, meet Chunky McChunkface. This 34g #dormouse recorded today is just 4g off our heaviest ever #dormouse but still some time left to put on a bit more weight..he might not fit in the box though if he does π€£ He deserves to be idolized around the #world@NottsDormice@PTES
The water storing capabilities of #HimalyanBalsam is astounding. Very satisfying to watch it glug glug glug immediately after pulling. No more need for plastic water bottles, just arm yourself with a balsam plant or two π€£π€£ #invasivespecies
The Nottinghamshire #dormouse populations are going from strength to strength. This weekend's monitoring of one of the woodlands recorded a whopping 48 #dormice. For reference, May 2023 recorded 22. *Handled under licence* @NottsDormice@PTES@NottsBAG@NEEastMidlands
Is this raw #sewage in the river Trent at Stoke Bardolph? Many wet wipes too. Has there been a discharge? Not what you want to see on a walk along the river on a hot day @EnvAgency@stwater
Moments before the cut, bees & hoverflies dance around the flowerheads as further along the bank the metal dragon churns up the wet grass & wipes out the minuscule communities that shelter within its depths. Nonsense management. @EnvAgency#ColwickPark#destruction

Why @EnvAgency do we need to be turning flood banks into lawns? Yesterday, the Colwick banks were awash with colour, pale pinks of Lady's smock, yellows of dandelions & buttercups, blues of speedwell & whites of early flowering cow parsley #ecologycrisis#naturedeficit
The grasses were also just beginning to flower. Rich in #insect life. Forage for the #birds & their chicks. Did you give a thought to nesting mallards? Now all that is left is a desert wasteland. Why? Will the tall grasses restrict flood alleviation? I think not. So why?
