Macron’s official visit to #Algeria ended with the signature of a joint declaration for “renewed” and “irreversible” partnership.
Beyond the five bilateral agreements on higher education, youth and health, it is clear that history and security were at the heart of this trip.

French President Macron met with Algerian President Tebboune and said that he wants to look to the future with Algeria, adding that a joint committee of historians will be established to review the history between the two countries.

Why do they describe Algeria as "the former French colony" so comfortably? Why don't they also describe France as "the former colonizer, the former usurper" as comfortably?

As per France’s Interior Minister, cooperation with #Algeria ( Tunisia & Morocco) on the expulsion of clandestine migrants in 🇫🇷 is improving.
This dossier, particularly sensitive, was one reason behind recent diplomatic tensions between Algiers & Paris.
