This is #Toxoplasma Gondii
Toxoplasma Gondii is a unicellular parasite that causes toxoplasmosis, which is largely asymptomatic in people with normal immune function.
It’s mostly present in cat feces and meat from pigs, goats, and sheep.

Toxoplasmosis is additionally also spread by ingestion of poorly cooked food. Toxoplasmosis is quite a rare disease, as it was found it has an influence on behavior in humans and animals. The parasite can stay dormant for an entire life in the brain and muscular tissues.

This “asymptomatic” disease does show in studies that people with toxoplasmosis have an increased reaction time and toxoplasma-infected male students were about 3cm taller than non-infected persons. A study even linked toxoplasmosis with schizophrenia.

The reason for Chlamydia being intracellular lies in the fact that it’s not able to produce energy itself and is therefore dependent on the host cell’s energy resources. Luckily it is effortless to treat with antibiotics.

Next to genital infections, C. trachomatis can also cause ocular infections, which can lead to blindness. This is currently the leading infectious cause of blindness worldwide.
