Hi all: would be grateful if anyone out there would have a look at this, share it widely, and donate. We’re in a big battle!!! Love, Andrew
Just sent in proposals for two book manuscripts! Book 1 is Canaan’s Crucible: Life and Death along the Color Line in the Era of the Great Migration. Book 2 is Survive or Perish: Race, Inequality, and the Battle for Black Lives from World War II to the Present. Fingers crossed!!!
Yesterday, officers raided the Gaza solidarity camp at UC Irvine and arrested a significant number of demonstrators. While I disagree with some of the slogans/tactics of the protesters, they were peaceful. All people of conscience should condemn this act of repression.

Our college just shared these CV guidelines and I think this is great. Your CV can be any format you want, but if you're not sure how to make one, this is a great starting point! #AcademicChatter#HiddenCurriculum
#Jackson, Mississippi was facing a water crisis long before the events of this past week. Access to clean water is a human right and it is unacceptable that, in America, communities of color continue to face water crises like this one.

A plea for help from a frustrated researcher: Can anyone out there please help me locate mortality data by race and gender for large American cities between 1900 and 1940. 1/3
Thus far I've used the Census Bureaus's annual Mortality Statistics reports and the US Statistical Abstract reports (which are okay, but only compare "white" and "all other races"), but I still have major data gaps--especially for non-southern cities (Detroit, Chicago, etc.). 2/3
Can anyone out there point me to some good resources that I can consult? This is extremely important to me, but I seem to have hit a dead end. All suggestions welcome. Thanks very much for any help you can provide! 3/3
Hi folks. I am looking for health and life insurance trade industry journals from 1st half of 20th century. Can anyone recommend a few to peruse (esp re: underwriting procedures) Thanks in advance for any tips.
.@UCAFT just won multi-year contracts for all @UofCalifornia lecturers after their 1st year of teaching, rehiring rights, 20% raises over the next 4 years, and a $1,500 signing bonus! Incredible statement about the power of workers when they organize and threaten to strike!
Could use help from historians! Can anyone point me to good surveys on the causes of the 1st Great Migration? I've seen some data from Chicago and Detroit, but I'm interested in a deeper dive. Can anyone out there recommend anything (either national or local case studies)? Thx.
