and if you see a group taking pictures of their food at a restaurant or some random person photographing a sunset for the 100th time or a guy who takes one week of vacation a year to visit a scenic landscape that's been photographed a million times before, maybe don't assume they're doing it to accumulate clout among strangers online.
most people taking pictures are not influencers.
they want to preserve that memory. what matters is that they were there. they took that photograph. it is a token of their experience.
we are all living our own lives. just because you can look on from the outside and recognize an experience as one you have also had along with a million other people and decide not to take a picture of it, that doesn't make it any less special or worthy of documenting to the person living it.
it is not about the literal image. it never is.
maybe years from now, after they've moved away, after the people they love are gone, after the moment itself has disappeared or they've grown old, that photograph will tether them to a past self who experienced it. a person who is both them and can never be them again.
what seems cringe cliche and performative to one person is to another a once in a lifetime moment or simply an act of preservation.
so one last fucking time, take pictures. take more pictures.

take pictures, take more pictures, take pictures of the sky, the clouds, the sunset and the trees, shadow on the wall or sunlight through leaves, take picture of a cat or a dog, family, friends and those you love, food you eat and the strangers you meet, take picture of yourself, smiling or even when crying, good or bad, happy or sad, document surroundings, the fancy and the boring, film anything and everything, put it together, clip it, trim it, add your favorite music in the background, post it or don't, keep it to yourself, call it art, call yourself an artist, memories fade, art doesn't, life is cinema, cinema is art, art is timeless, create something to look back to, ai can't do it for you, maybe not now, maybe never, do it yourself, do it for yourself, take pictures, take more pictures.

hi guys, it's been a while so i thought i'd reintroduce myself!
i'm atharva. i stare at a computer screen as my day job, but then i also click a hell lotta pictures. like, crazy. and i look at the sky every day. i love trees and i almost never miss a sunset.
this account is a museum of those moments, captured on my phone and a decade old digicam, which i sometimes call art.
taking pictures is my sense of escape and over the past year an INSANE number of people have appreciated the stuff i've posted here and i'm genuinely grateful for every bit of it.
