i absolutely despise how AI is being used in education
you're telling me that:
> we created a beautiful, non-deterministic machine
> gave it the sum total of all human knowledge
> trained it to talk just like us
> even gave it a lil inner dialogue to simulate thinking
and the result is jeremy from grade 8 using it to copy-paste solutions to his trigonometry assignments because he’s too lazy to learn how to calculate the missing side of a right angle triangle ???
don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with using AI for school as long as you’re actually learning and not enslaving yourself to the token slot machine
i genuinely think this (aka the outsourcing of human thinking and understanding) is a very serious and looming problem,
that we’ll only see the real impacts of when the students currently in K-12 join universities / the workforce
we can certainly do better
and it starts by making it easier for the AI to teach instead of answering
