Cervical radiculopathy vs peripheral neuropathy!
Most of the neck pain is due to muscle pain. But sometimes it can be from nerve impingement at the cervical vertebra. The keys for success: detailed history → thorough physical examination → systematic images review.
However, it is more common than we previously thought. One recent study found up to 14% from patients with chronic low back pain were having SCN origin. The attached slides summarize common causes.
Pain management relevant neurology examination #2
Figuring out the cause of lower back pain is often challenging. The keys for success: detailed history → thorough physical examination → systematic images review. Starting backward (i.e., from imaging, can be misleading).
