There's got to be a documentary on @netflix about this because you just could not make this up....it's an incredulous story but its not a story, its real life. This needs to serve as one of those planning quotes "has Astley due diligence been adhered to" so any future monumental fuff ups like this cannot be repeated. Much support and admiration to those impacted and please do not ever go quiet because that's how these things are allowed to just go away and be forgotten about @astleyaction

That representation is not reflective at all of the reality of the impact it has caused. The warehouse is 30m away from my house with no bund (mound) whatsoever. This reality of this development was miss sold to the committee.

Hello @WiganCouncil please can you pick up the phone to us or just respond RE why the council thought an Environmental Impact Assessment was not needed on this? Our own privately advised assessments shows that this should never have gone ahead without an EIA… keen to understand why your council didn’t reach the same conclusion.

Apparently planners thought this small amount of vegetation (that will of course takes years to grow) would be adequate enough to cover the 60 foot industrial warehouse… Astonishing. Speaking with residents shortly, will bring you their thoughts unfiltered tonight.

A community who have seen their homes overshadowed by the construction of four huge industrial warehouses near Wigan have served notice to the Council in an attempt to halt building. Residents say the 18-meter-high warehouses are 'monstrous'. @swainitv reports.

'When did you guys begin to realise that they weren't stopping that this thing would grow and grow?' The government has announced plans to stop new building projects from being ground to a halt by local councils. But people in one neighbourhood in Greater Manchester are up in arms, after a new development of 60-foot warehouses was built, literally in their backyard. ＠susannareid100 and Richard are joined by resident Steve Retford.

The Housing Secretary Steve Reed is promising more measures to help businesses, as he puts it, “build, baby build”. He is bringing forward plans to speed up the approval of new water reservoirs and onshore wind farms as a part of a shake up of planning laws. The new powers would allow ministers to prevent applications being rejected by local councils or stalled in judicial reviews. Critics say the move will have a devastating impact on local communities and that everyone will become vulnerable to huge developments on their doorsteps. @swainitv with more.
