The moment people understand we don’t have a “justice system” but a “predictability” system the law starts to make sense. The biggest frustration that a layperson experiences is how “unfair” it always is. It absolutely is unfair. However, as long as we can reliably tell you “you’re screwed” it’s hunky-dory in the courts. Once you accept that, then you can actually start to change things—incrementally—to improve them. You should still bang the “it’s not fair” drum (because everyone knows it’s true) but you also put forward the “and the law is wrong because of this inconsequential detail” argument and slowly it reshapes. It sucks: either avoid courts like the plague or put on a helmet and deal with reality.

So they can do summary reversals … just not where core constitutional rights like the 2A are concerned.
NEW: The Supreme Court has summarily reversed the 3-judge trial court's decision striking down Texas' mid-decade congressional map (the court had previously stayed the decision). The three liberal justices dissent. #txlege

The AK-50 guy thinks there are lists he isn’t already on…
Two things I learned coming to DC as often as I have this past few months. 1. It has some absolutely amazing rooftop bars and restaurants. 2. Googling “rooftops in DC” will get you on some lists you don’t want to be on.

“Dumbest smart guy” is a phrase designed for this quote.
Universal HIGH INCOME via checks issued by the Federal government is the best way to deal with unemployment caused by AI. AI/robotics will produce goods & services far in excess of the increase in the money supply, so there will not be inflation.

I’m convinced anyone who focuses on the use of AI is terrified that other people know they are using it and aren’t as smart as they pretend to be. Anyone who isn’t using an LLM a lot is pretty fucking dumb: no matter how smart or good you actually are, you have weaknesses.

Using an LLM can help you overcome those weaknesses. Whether that’s writing, brainstorming, learning a new programming language. Just don’t let it go to your head because they are also wrong a crazy amount of the time too.

This is the fucking dumbest thing I’ve ever read. This guy has never met an actual firefighter in his life. “Sleep until you’re hungry, eat until you’re sleepy.”
She just reverse-engineered the psychology of every high-performer who can't turn off. You can't tell a firefighter to nap. Their entire identity is built around staying alert when everyone else is asleep. Telling them to rest triggers the same resistance as telling them to quit. "Let's watch a show" works because it reframes rest as togetherness. He didn't agree to sleep. He agreed to spend time with her. Sleep was just the side effect. The best people in your life don't argue with your stubbornness. They just build a trap you walk into willingly.

I think this is prescient for the future of AI subscriptions:

Free nights and weekends Bring back the 2002 cell phone plan vibes. Rollover minutes as well. If I didn’t use all my tokens within a time period, let the extra rollover if it’s in a 24 hour span. Reset them all after 24 hours. Also, drop the $100 plan already. I’m ready.

50% of your five hour use from Claude in a single prompt? @AnthropicAI tells you to fuck yourself. @OpenAI has a hiccup they don’t understand? Resets for everyone.
Our Codex dashboards are showing increased rate of users hitting rate limits and since we don't fully understand why I have made the cautious decision of resetting the usage limits for all plans. Enjoy. I also wanted to celebrate us finding a pocket of fraudulent accounts that we banned and have helped us regain some compute. The fight against abuse never stops, but it's important to mark the moment and make it a little shared victory.

There is a reason why (for right now) I’ve canceled Claude and have kept ChatGPT. I don’t care if your product is better (and I’m not convinced Claude is) if I can’t actually use it.

My wife and I have to go to an engagement party in Jersey. We’re in a rental. I’m in New Jersey with New York plates. People from New Jersey are seeing us and thinking they are better than us. I’ve never been so ashamed.

The real question isn’t going to be what the courts do with the 2A: it’s what is going to happen if they don’t respect our natural rights. youtube.com/watch?v=DDO2EvXy…

Some days, I wish we could all just agree to collectively say “fuck these unconstitutional gun laws”, drop in an auto-sear, 3D print a recoilless rifle and dare the motherfuckers to do something about it … But since we won’t, this is awesome but terrible advice….
Buddy of mine moved to upstate NY, said he now needed to register his guns. I told him “just don’t” He listened, although registered all purchases made while living there. Years later he wanted to move but quoted some kind of commie law that he needed something from the sheriff in order to take the guns he purchased in NY out of state. I told him to ignore it and just move because some random sheriff in upstate NY has no jurisdiction outside his county. He listened. Wanna know what happened to him? Nothing. See? You can just ignore bullshit gun laws.

Don’t forget boys and girls, these laws don’t exist to protect you, and the government certainly doesn’t care if you follow them. The laws exist to put you in prison when it becomes convenient to the them. What we do about that I don’t know.

So .. if I'm buying a Glock to illegally convert into a machine gun, how am I being deceived? And if I don't buy a Glock to illegally convert into a machine gun, how am I harmed? More bullshit virtue signaling wasting our tax dollars.

The science is settled: studies show that experts agree with their funders 100 percent of the time.

My take on the problem. 1. When Democrats get power, they soon get voted out because they do many Bad Things. 2. When Republicans get power, they soon get voted out because they do Nothing At All.

You don’t nuke the filibuster just to “reopen” the government and pass Biden-level spending. You nuke the filibuster when you have a stack of laws, in your pocket, ready to pass, that will send your political opponents into the desert for a century.
