We’re hiring! Augmental is looking for a part-time Assembly Technician in San Francisco to help us build MouthPads^: the intraoral wearable that lets people control their devices hands-free, using tongue, head, and breathing gestures. If you love precise, hands-on work on intricate projects, this one’s for you. You’ll assemble MouthPads^ and charging cases, handle QA and fulfillment, keep clear documentation, and work with our engineers to refine the process. Interested? DM us or send your resume and/or portfolio to jobs@augmental.tech (role in the subject line). Full details: augmental.tech/join-us/assem… Not sure you check every box? Apply anyway. If it’s not you but you know someone relevant, please share!

Do you use the Action Button to trigger dictation? We've built a frictionless, private way to dictate into any textbox in iOS. If you're in SF, I'd love to have you try it and hear your thoughts!
Our new wearable mic is so sensitive it can hear your heart beat

Do you rely on dictation to code? We're building a wearable that lets you speak at very low volumes (even whispers!) and works in noisy environments. Would love to learn about your workflow to help guide the next version.

We just drove a wheelchair with a tongue. If you saw the Mario Kart clip — this is what comes next.

This is an early prototype of the MouthPad^ Drive: tongue input mapped to directional wheelchair commands. In the lab, we’re tuning sensitivity and mapping safe navigation patterns. The MouthPad^ started as a phone/computer controller. Where it goes from here is what keeps us up at night — in the best way. Follow @AugmentalTech for updates on the project.

Converted my @augmentaltech MouthPad^ from BLE to USB. Mapped my head to Rocket League camera movement. 👅🎮

Mario Kart. Hands-free. Stock Nintendo Switch. Tongue gestures and sips for steering, items, drifts. @NintendoAmerica Racing is the hardest continuous-control challenge we've thrown at the MouthPad^ — you can't let go of the wheel. Each genre we test reveals a different layer of input design. This one changed how we think about sustained control.

8.51 bits per second. No implant. No surgery. Tomás hit 8.51 BPS in a 60-second MouthPad^ benchmark using head-tracking tongue clicks. Personal Best: 9.98 BPS. That rivals the best BCIs — at a fraction of the cost. From Tomás: "The mouthpad's a game-changer. It totally revolutionized how I use my computer."

Clear a cavern of enemies with your tongue, and rule all of your devices, hands-free. Watch our very own Aragorn play LOTR with the MouthPad^ — moving around with licks and attacking with tongue presses and sips. Gaming = the ultimate stress test for input devices. Fast feedback, high stakes, spatial navigation under pressure. This is what R&D looks like at @AugmentalTech.

Not sure you meet every qualification? Let us decide! Research shows that women and members of underrepresented groups tend to not apply to jobs unless they meet every requirement, when in fact they’re highly qualified. We’re committed to creating a diverse and inclusive team and strongly encourage you to apply.

“Controlling my mouse with my mouth!” Couldn’t explain the MouthPad^ better (or with more style) than our user Ryan Hudson-Peralta. 🧢 We sent Ryan, a designer and accessibility advocate, a MouthPad^ to get his feedback on the device. Check it out!

He created a device that lets paralyzed individuals control phones, tablets, and computers with only their tongue. Created by MIT-trained engineer Tomás Vega, the device sits on the roof of the mouth and works like a wireless trackpad.
