The Rover-BRM makes this list by being powered by something truly strange - a gas turbine. It competed at the #LeMans24 twice, in 1963 and 1965 - 2nd time with redesigned bodywork. With Graham Hill, Richie Ginther and later Jackie Stewart at the wheel, the vehicle performed well.

The Japanese went a bit crazy @ the beginning of the last decade. In 2012, they became the 1st ever #LeMans24 entry in the Garage 56 class with their Deltawing. However, its refinement and sophistication proved no match for brute force and the car was simply pushed off the track
