Prop 50 performed exceptionally well in SoCal, in many precincts (especially in Riverside County and the SB high desert) it achieved margins that no other dem candidate has approached previously

So many thanks to @josh_metcalf for compiling this data so quickly and getting it on DRA. I know from experience how maddening it is to collect CA election data (especially at this pace!!) Please give him all the love

I know I'm late on this, but what exactly happened in Georgia? Did republicans not know that there was an election?

Some notable changes for dem incumbents around LA on the new CA map (current lines in black) 27 (Whitesides): Much bluer now, hard to see him losing 32 (Sherman): Trades parts of SFV for all of Simi Valley, primary protection? 26 (Brownley) is fairly blue either way.

38 (New): Assuming Sanchez runs in 41, new 38 is mostly in the SGV and not east LA 41 (Sanchez): This is likely the "new district" that was talked about, however it is about half Sanchez' current district 42 (Garcia): Now mostly white, Dem base entirely in Long Beach, pretty safe

As someone who's no longer active in this space, looking in and seeing the blanket statements people make on here about elections that are two years away is just absurd. You don't know that Brian Kemp will beat Jon Ossoff, that is literally unknowable, why are you saying that.

every time I get a nytimes notification it's just "Trump administration to enforce new executive order forcing all puppies to be strangled"

I'm old enough to remember being told that all Trump wanted to do was fix the economy and put common sense politics back in charge.

if Bob Iger runs for LA Mayor I will devote my entire life for the next year to supporting Karen Bass' campaign for re-election
👀 NEWS: Democratic congressman @RoKhanna says he's encouraged @Disney CEO @RobertIger to run for L.A. Mayor...and Iger is considering it. Khanna, who endorsed Karen Bass for Mayor in '22, says the city needs "new leadership." "Bob Iger would be phenomenal...he has the business leadership..." More: youtube.com/watch?v=q64b-3_Z…

Interesting how variable it seems like the swings at different colleges were, the UCs were all around in line with the nation while places like UMich and UGA went super hard to the right.

Not sure what the difference is there, maybe it's something to do with first-generation students or something?

Pretty clear to me that Garvey did not get any name recognition boost among Dodger fans. Looking at the districts in LA, OC, and SB where he outperformed Trump the most they're all wealthy suburbs.

If he got a boost from being a Dodger legend, you'd expect it to show up in working class Latino areas more than anywhere else, while this look is far more expected of a generic R. I'd guess he got some boost, but it's very clearly well outweighed by simple downballot lag.

If anything, he likely overperformed Trump far more with Angels and Padres fans than Dodgers fans (although he was also a Padre)

Fresno County has yet to publish results by precinct, but some extremely rough estimates are probably good enough since it's not a huge slice of the district. Looks like CA-13 was around Trump 6, meaning Adam Gray represents one of the reddest seats in the country

one of the reddest seats in the county represented by a Democrat, obviously
