Racism in education should be treated as a safeguarding issue, with anti-racist policies in all schools & training for staff, according to a new book by @jeffreykboakye. He says social justice issues should be seen as key performance indicators in schools. theguardian.com/education/20…

The racism we’re experiencing now is more subtle but still as dangerous. To tackle it would mean genuine commitment & funding .Political policy still refuses 2 go far enough & as a result racism continues 2 be embedded in our Scottish institutions as it always has been.

Important article. The soul & spirit of anti racist education in Scottish schools is also sadly still lacking.Teachers continue 2 lack support teaching about racism. The understanding of race, migration & empire is central 2 pupils understanding of the Britain we live in today.
My reflections on new school regulations about teaching on #racism. Impartiality is v important, but would we insist that issues like #DomesticViolence / #VAWG are taught "impartially"? Or should our children be taught that some behaviours are simply wrong?bit.ly/36fcwHE

As part of our school's work towards becoming an anti-racist institution we have created a resource bank relating to racism and education in the UK. We'd like to share it in case it may be of use to others working towards this too. @SandringhamE7 docs.google.com/document/d/1…

I've been threatened with prosecution as my child refuses to attend school after a traumatic experience involving prejudice based bullying, I wish they would so I can ask why they refused to support a move to an out of catchment school 1

Closed our case with social work after a referral by police and a request from myself for support, I had to beg for help before we were assigned a social worker. They refused to recognise problems with racism and denied my child her lived experience, saying that it wasn't racism

People continue to believe that the ability for scientists to trace a person's recent ancestry or match their "self-reported race" is proof that race is a biological reality. This is an old argument that was long set aside.
