Thanks @ELGL50 for helping me share this essay. It is a tribute to my Mom, an exploration of how memory works, and a reflection on the life lessons that have really stuck with me through the years.
In January, Andrew Kleine lost his mother, Gail, who he memorializes as "a force, a wonderful energy: frank, fierce, and fun."
The lessons she shared through her public service and community leadership continue to endure: elgl.org/lessons-that-stuck-…

How dumb was that Lions onside kick? Such a low probability move and completely unnecessary at that point in the game. Campbell needs to be smarter if this team is going to win the Super Bowl.
History made and championship secured! ❤️🏆💚: Huge congratulations to our #1 @WASHUBears Women's soccer team on being @NCAADIII Women’s Soccer champions!

Camp Small is a source of immense pride for me. It is an example of government at its best, turning waste into wealth. You can read about my emotional reaction to the fire at the end of Emily’s story.
This is a wonderful article about Camp Small, which is on fire right now. A decade ago, budget, rec and parks, and the sustainability office worked together to turn tree waste into public benefit. I’m sad right now. I hope Camp Small will rise from the ashes.
Camp Small does really cool work. If you’ve ever been to Cahill Rec Center, you’ve seen their product. Recycled street tree lumber lines every wall. Hoping the crew who works at the camp is safe. baltimoresun.com/2022/01/13/…
