My favorite conservative Catholic cope on this is: "He will talk to Anglicans, Lutherans, Muslims etc. because they don't claim to be loyal Roman Catholics." Basically, "I would talk to you if you denied more ecumenical councils, sorry. One is rookie numbers."
BREAKING: Pope Leo on the SSPX consecrations — “I am considering making another appeal and saying ‘don't do this, let's try to live the communion of the Church.’ But it is their choice. We must realize what it means for them and for the Church. Certainly, the division among Christians is a painful point. However, they refuse to accept some fundamental elements of the Church, starting with several points of the Second Vatican Council. If they make that choice, I am sorry. But we must move forward”

Honestly I think I decided recently I'm never attending a regular Catholic Mass (the Novus Ordo for the terminally online) ever again, even for Christmas or Easter if it's the only available Mass. I may not even attend approved TLMs or Eastern rites. May just become a

De facto R&R or sede insofar as I attend Mass at all. Idk this whole SSPX episcopal consecrations business just reminded me how much I dislike the official Church. Weddings or funerals the only exceptions of course.

The error of the Lefebvrist is the mistake of all crusading reformers within an institution: thinking that some intangible ideal transcends & drives everything, when it's really just real estate & organizational structures governing said real estate.
Replying to @JustinusRomanus
At bottom I will always be a frustrated Lefebvrist. The romanticism of the Lost Cause I suppose.

Say now. When I say, "the WEF at prayer," or "the symphony between Davos & Rome," that's what I mean: it's the Vatican II that the Pope needs the SSPX to accept, or at least keep quiet about so they can get assigned their side chapel like the other approved trad groups.

I think it's very important that there will never be an FSSP / ICKSP etc bishop because they can always be contained / silenced / shuttered if they get out of hand. The pre-Vatican II contagion is contained & quarantined, & the inmates afflicted with it thank their jailers.

Yes, indeed. Garrigou-Lagrange is a needed and clarifying lecture, while Lubac was just vibe writing

I divide any human institution down the line between poets / artists on one side & engineers / accountants on the other. Garrigou-Lagrange was an accountant, & de Lubac a wannabe poet. Are poets more fun to read and better at parties? Certainly. But they suck at actually giving

Garrigou Lagrange is better for your brain imo. De Lubac is like shoving a handful of Doritos in your mouth.

Structure that could stand, the former Marian piety & the latter traditional liturgy in particular. Honestly, it's far better to follow accountants who take occasional flights of poetry, as Garrigou-Lagrange sometimes did.

Otherwise the temptation is to fall into pure vandalism because one finds it poetic, but eventually nothing is left.

Love how the chuds on here get continuously dunked on by the hierarchy they're supposed to obey.
Detroit's Archbishop Weisenburger BLASTED for claiming that all churches, mosques and synagogues are sacred places. “This is a truly wonderful and sacred place… a place that I believe will bring all of humanity into deeper communion with our one God.”

With the SSPX consecrations coming up many Catholics haven't learned the actual lesson of post-Vatican II ecclesiology that they supposedly defend: that the history of the Church is actually really messy & black & white judgments often aren't the final verdict of history.
Francis closest followers were excommunicated just like Luther after his death and they operated outside the church for decades until they were eventually reconciled via a compromise. Likewise Melanchton and Charles V had a compromise that reconciled Lutherans with the Church…

My only contribution to the Obsession movie gender war slop discourse is that in Latin American folk magic the premise of the movie is always reversed: it's women who use magic & spells to dominate men.

We need a second Council of Trent, seven bajillion more Marian dogmas, and to erase Vatican II from the space time continuum. I will not be happy until this is done. Our popery must grow to previously unfathomable heights.

People really think they cook when they post this stuff, huh? "We can throw the last thousand years out the window because we read something in a book." No other religion thinks that.
