God exhorts parents to discipline their children including spanking, when necessary, but it cannot be done out of anger.
I find that most people who are very averse to corporal punishment were abused by their parents (spanked out of frustration or anger), but past misuse of the tool does not negate the command.

That being said, you’re far better choosing an alternative tool if you cannot control your anger in the moment. Spanking out of anger is worse than even doing nothing, but you have big problems if you cannot control your anger if you’re a parent. You’d need to fix that first of all
